Acting on orders from East Godavari District Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore and South Zone Deputy Superintendent of Police S. Bhavya Kishore, the Rajamahendravaram Two Town Police arrested a gang involved in the theft of electrical wires from construction sites.
Inspector of Police V. Durga Rao held a press meet at the Two Town Police Station to address the media regarding the arrests. He explained how a special team, including constables K. Pradeep Kumar and S. Veerababu, had conducted surveillance in areas where new apartments were being built.
On September 12, they successfully arrested three individuals—Manikanta Raju, Kukkala Chinni, and Kusuma Sashanth—near AVA Road. The police recovered 40 kilograms of stolen copper wire from the suspects. The case has been registered under CR. NO. 159/2024 U/S 303(2) BNS (379 IPC).
Additionally, CI Durga Rao revealed that four other members of the gang are already in jail for other offenses, and one suspect remains at large. The police have also seized another 20 kilograms of copper wire linked to thefts at other construction sites. CI Rambabu from the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) division addressed the media, highlighting the connection between drug-related crimes and such thefts. He noted that many individuals involved in these crimes are often drug users looking for ways to finance their addiction. CI Rambabu called for greater community vigilance and cooperation in reporting suspicious activities to the police.Both officers stressed the importance of builders improving security at construction sites to prevent such incidents and encouraged the public to report any suspicious behavior to the police helpline at 100 or 112.
