Rajamahendravaram, September 15: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Autography, Tourism, and Cultural Affairs, Kandula Durgesh, has announced efforts to stabilize the film industry within the state.O n Sunday, during the unveiling of the title for the film Gram Prajaklu Vijnapti at the Shelton Hotel in Rajamahendravaram, the minister emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting the industry. The film, produced by Munjaluri Pawan Kumar under the 4K Film Factory banner and directed by Sai Vijay Sriram, features newcomers Sandeep as the hero and Kaveri as the heroine.
Minister Kandula Durgesh, who attended the event as the chief guest, expressed his pleasure at unveiling the film’s title. He pointed out that the Konaseema, East, and West Godavari districts are home to several locations ideal for film production. The scenic banks of the Godavari River and the forested regions like Rampachodavaram offer picturesque settings, he added. The minister lauded the involvement of renowned comedian Gautham Raju in the film and highlighted the key role of audiences from the Godavari districts in the success of films.The minister also noted that Andhra Pradesh’s first film studio, Durga Movie Tone Studio, has already been set up in Dhavaleswaram.
He recalled how legendary directors such as Adurthi Subbarao, K. Viswanath, E.V.V. Satyanarayana, and Vamsi created timeless classics in the Godavari region. However, in contrast to Telangana, which has become a hub for film production, Andhra Pradesh lacks adequate infrastructure such as studios and post-production facilities, which has hindered the growth of the film industry in the state.He also shared that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has a favorable outlook on the film industry, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, being from the industry, is keen on developing it within Andhra Pradesh.
The minister further stated that consultations would be held with the Producers’ Council to discuss the growth of the Telugu film industry in the state and expressed his hopes for the success of Gram Prajaklu Vijnapti.
Call for Land Allocation for Film Studios
Speaking at the event, veteran comedian Gautham Raju stressed the importance of allocating land for film studios in Andhra Pradesh. He reminisced about how legendary directors like Dasari Narayana Rao, Bapu, E.V.V. Satyanarayana, and K. Viswanath produced successful films in the Godavari region. He expressed his desire to see the Telugu film industry flourish in Andhra Pradesh and emphasized that the state is home to talented technicians, artists, and creative professionals. Providing them with opportunities will foster growth in the local film industry, he added. He also noted that 63% of funds from the film industry are currently flowing into Telangana, and developing the film sector in Andhra Pradesh would contribute to the state’s overall economic growth.
The event was attended by film director Sai Vijay Sriram, producer Munjaluri Pawan Kumar, lead actors Sandeep and Kaveri, along with several other members of the film unit.
