The district is gearing up for the Kharif 2024-25 rice collection season. A meeting was held at the Collectorate on Wednesday with East Godavari District Collector P Prashanti, mill representatives, and coordination officials to discuss preparations. Collector Prashanti directed that crop booking and registration must be completed by October 1. She emphasized the need for essential infrastructure at procurement centers and the allocation of collection targets based on mill capacities. Special officers are tasked with verifying gunny bags before the season begins. Joint Collector S Chinna Rama Raju stressed the importance of providing bank guarantees from millers and installing GPS tracking on collection vehicles. Millers should also ensure proper arrangements to avoid delays at rice mills.
