The Regional Vigilance & Enforcement Office in Rajamahendravaram announced that it will continue monitoring illegal storage and transportation of PDS rice. Regional Vigilance SP K.S.S.V. Subbareddy emphasized that legal action will be taken against anyone involved in buying or selling such rice.
On Tuesday, following a tip-off regarding illegal transportation of PDS rice, Vigilance officers, along with Revenue and Civil Supplies officials, inspected a Tata Ace HT vehicle (No. AP05TM0397) in Veeravaram village, Kadium Mandal, East Godavari district, and discovered PDS rice being loaded.
The officers identified approximately 2,077 kg of PDS rice stored in 38 bags at a shed owned by Pasalapudi Gangaraju. The rice was reportedly purchased from ration cardholders in the Kadium area and was being sold to poultry farms in the Alamuru region. The officials seized the rice, the vehicle, and a weighing machine, and registered a case under Section 6A.They have recommended filing criminal charges against the individuals involved.
The Regional Vigilance & Enforcement Office continues to monitor PDS (subsidized rice) for illegal storage and transportation across three districts. Anyone with information about such activities is encouraged to report it to SP K.S.S.V. Subbareddy at 8008203261. The informant’s details will be kept confidential. The inspection involved Vigilance officers Nag Venkata Raju, Shiva, and officials from the Revenue and Civil Supplies departments.
